Behind the Curtain
A downloadable game for Windows
This is a personal 48h game jam prototype, I mostly tried out narrative implementation in UE5 (tried multiple system to see how they hold up), but I still had a theme "Renaissance Theatre", that I tried to create a small story around.
- Histoire / Story :
You play as Louise a.k.a Louis, a woman posing as a man in order to perform in a play during the Renaissance Theatre.
She finds herself stuck playing a man in her real life and a woman on stage (common practice at that time, female role were played by males). During a play, she has ton contain herself once more. But what will you choose, make her restrain herself, allowing her to stay hidden and live of her dream? Or let her go all out with passion on stage, risking her exposure as a real woman in front of the crowd?
Either way, she will seal her fate on this play, but will she stay quiet or make one more step into convincing the public that women should be allowed to play as well?
- Gameplay :
There isn't any profound gameplay, you go around and talk to NPC's and get to know more about the situation around you, learn who you are, listen to what they say, look for items that might give you more information...
And at the end you get a moral choice which will lead to either reveal yourself or stay hidden.
- Controls :
Left mouse click on a space: move there
Maintain left mouse click: move where your cursor is (as long as you maintain the button)
Spacebar: Interact and go to next dialogue
E: Open doors (when doors are available to be opened)
Credits :
Code (me hello!): Blueprint, historical research and narrative
CrashCourse: Videos provided infos on my theme fast (as well as other websites)
